MLB 09: The Show review

MLB 09: The Show is the latest in the line of baseball games made by Sony. It is a simulation style game and a good one at that. You have your standard exhibition, season, and franchise modes as well as a Road to the Show mode. This is a mode where you create a player and you control him through his career. This is a fun mode and the games go really quickly. In each game, you get training points to use to progress your player. The game has minors but only have triple A and the double A teams. To me, that's not a bad thing because not all baseball games feature the minors. The gameplay is sharp and presentation is solid; it almost feels like you are at a real game. Franchise mode is very, very deep; however if you don't feel like messing with all the little intricacies of it, you can sim whatever you want. Online play is ok at best; exhibition games can be done for points that determine your world ranking. There are leagues; however I have a lot of trouble with them. Even if I am able to play a person in league play, that option is not available. Plus it's hard for everyone to be able to play whenever you are ready to play. One good thing: I didn't experience a lot of lag. Overall, this is one of my favorite baseball games of all time. If you have a PS3, get this game. If you have a 360 though, you are out of luck; this is a first party game and 360 owners must play the lackluster MLB 2K9. So without further ado, play ball.
