I have put about 20 hours into the game as of this review. Let me just say that this game is really long. Also I have only killed three big bosses so far. With that being said, let's begin.
Demons Souls is an game similar to any RPG you are familiar with. Think Fable or WOW. Only main difference is difficulty; this game is not that forgiving when you die. You are sent back to the starting point. You can get around this by quitting the game (holding down the PS button) as soon as your health is gone and you start to turn green. The downside to doing that is that you will have to load the game every time and that can be time-consuming.
There are over 10 different classes to choose from. From the knight to the magician to a thief (I play this class now), there is a class to suit your play style. Each has its strengths and weaknesses. The currency in the game is Souls. You get these by killing enemies, slaying demons or picking them up from dead bodies. These can be used to buy items, increase your Soul level, or use them to upgrade your weapons. The biggest strategy in terms of upgrading is what to upgrade first. Again it depends on the play style and somewhat on the class you pick.
I won't delve into the story too much. You are a guy trying to save a kingdom that's overrun by demons. That's the gist of it. If you want music in the game, there hardly is any, except for a couple places. I like the game but it can get boring at times because you need to grind--do the same area over and over--just to get enough souls to do some things because in my opinion, there are some things that are overpriced. If you are looking for a game that requires strategy, time, and a little luck, then this game is for you. The Wiki helps a lot for the game as well.
