Wii shortage: a good thing or a bad thing?

The Nintendo Wii reportedly will be in short supply until March. This does not bode well for the system. On the heels of strapgate, the Wii has not gotten off to a good start in some aspects. They are selling well and the commercials are fun to watch so that's a good sign. But I have seen nothing negative happen to the PS3 since its launch while the Wii has had a couple of incidents since its launch. And with a shortage imminent, this may be another black eye for the system. But a shortage can be a good thing as well: it can let the company focus on the flaws the system has (or had). Patience is needed at a time like this. So for you Wii fans, here is a line from Good Eats Alton Brown: "your patience will be rewarded."
