Ratchet: DeadLocked; a totally different playing experience

For those of you familiar with the Ratchet and Clank series (like me), Ratchet:DeadLocked is different then its predecessors. It's different in that this game is more combat-oriented than platforming. If you don't prefer more combat, then you may not like this game. Me, I love this game. You may have less weapons (a total of 10) but each level up to level 99 (levels 11-99 only attainable in Challenge mode). Plus the game isn't that hard and with just some practice and a little strategy, you can beat the game in maybe 12 hours (I beat it in 17 the first playthrough). That said there are some extras to achieve. Skill points are plentiful and with those points come rewards like trading cards cheats. The game is basically a variety of different tournament events. You start low on the totem pole and you must work your way through the ranks (The highest ranking is Liberator). The same characters return (Qwark in a cameo appearance) but Clank is not playable; he's more like your guide. Instead Ratchet gets two robots named Merc and Green to help him on his mission. Speaking of mission, Ratchet is thrown into this scenario when he gets captured by a villain named Gleeman Vox who uses him to get ratings for his TV show Dreadzone. Ratchet and his friends have a collar "deadlocked" to them (hence the name) and is forced to participate in the tournament against his wishes. Overall this game is great. There are some rough spots in the game (like the screen slowing down whenever a bunch of enemies appear on the screen at once) but if you are looking for a game in the series and have yet to get Size Matters for the PS2 or Tools of Destruction for the PS3 and are looking for a game to add to your library that's cheap and fun to play, buy this. It won't dissappoint.
