The game company Midway, well known for its Mortal Kombat and arcade-like videogame franchises like NFL Blitz and NBA Jam, have been given their NYSE delisting threat letters. What this means is that Midway may no longer be listed on the NYSE if their trade value doesn't go up to $1 per share. Currently it's at 29 cents per share. Their time window is 6 months. This does not mean the company will go out of business. However, my thought is that if Midway went out of business, would anyone notice? The last Midway game I bought was NFL Blitz 2001. A long time ago. Blitz the League is one franchise that tried to save the company but I think it failed. Midway is still slipping and it doesn't look like it will get out anytime soon. I think in order to save the company, they may as well try to be bought out. Unfortunately, Midway is irrelevant in 2008. If this was still the 90's then maybe Midway would have a chance. As it stands now, Midway has no shot of recovering from their losses. They've taken too much a hit. Hopefully someone will pick up the company. Otherwise, it's bye-bye for this company and there is no midway point.
