Earlier this week, Firmware update 3.00 was announced. There was much hype around this update (maybe a little too much). This update did a few major things:
The change to PS3 (instead of Playstation 3) on the startup screen as well as a change to the startup music.
A "What's new" section was added.
The Playstation store icon was added to the game, video and music sections
Sparkles were added to the default XMB (Later it was discovered that the makers of Pixeljunk monsters added the sparkles)
The Font was enlarged.
Trophies for developers are able to be split between main trophies and DLC.
There were other minor fixes, like the friends list looking block-like. Overall This is not a bad update. There are people who have the white DS3 controllers who can't play their games because the firmware locked up their controllers. Also, it has been reported that Uncharted locks up at times. Sony is looking into that. Maybe in the next firmware, that issue would be fixed.
