Uncharted 2 review

Uncharted 2 is the latest game in the series created by Naughty Dog. Drake must search for what Marco Polo was looking for: the key to Shangri-La. Unfortunately, a Russian named Zoran Lezarevic is out to get it for his personal gain. The game is longer than the first (I completed my first playthrough on Hard in about 16 hours) and for me, the story was more compelling. If you like fighting, you will also like this game because there are a ton of big battles. It is easy to get most of the weapon specific trophies in the game. Speaking of trophies, they are pretty much the same as in Uncharted 1 but the kill counts are higher for each weapon and the survival trophy. The same hero characters return as well as a new edition: Chloe. Personally, I didn't care for her character. She jumped sides too much for me. Sully returns for a couple chapters and Elena joins you early in the game.

Gameplay is the same as the first but with a notable difference. To me, the enemies can take more bullets than the first one and I thought that game was spongy. You still find treasures but they are very, very, well hidden. So kudos for that. The melee combat is castly improved. I enjoyed it so much. I do wish that the grenade tossing wasn't changed; I got used to that. There is still platforming and it is fun.

There is online play in this game. You have your standard modes which are fun. I have some gripes though, but they don't deter from the great online experience. One gripe I will address: only 10 rounds max for co-op survival? Kinda weak. Each mode allows you to earn money which you can use to upgrade weapons, get skins and boosters. If you have a Uncharted 1 save file, you will get a bonus added to the store.

Overall, I like this game. I am anticipating a 3rd game in the series. If you don't want to pay almost full price right now, wait a while and get it for cheap. You won't regret it.
