First off, this is a new game in the Mega Man regular series, not the X series. Now that we've straightened that out, on to the review. This game was released in 2008 for all three platforms. What you notice immediately is the graphical presentation. They (Capcom) decided to go back to the NES style on which the series was known for up til MM6. I didn't have a problem with it.
The story is that Dr. Light was framed for crimes and Megaman must try to clear his name. You have you the 8 standard bosses but one was a woman (Splash Woman was her name). The game is also went back to MM1 roots in terms of difficulty. The game is hard and if you aren't used to hard games, then you will probably be turned off by this notion. I like the hard difficulty. It gives you a sense of pride once you complete a level. You have challenges that you can complete but they aren't mandatory.
If you like this series, buy this game. If you are feeling nostalgia for Megaman, buy this game. There is DLC which may entice you to get this game. However if you are turned off by hard games, don't worry. Megaman 10 is out and it should be easier. But for those who like a challenge, MM9 is right up your alley.
