NBA Street review
NBA Street is a fast-paced arcadelike basketball game by EA. It could be considered the next generation of NBA Jam that was on the SNES in the 1990's. If you have played NBA Jam, then you would have a good idea of how this game works. The gameplay consists of 3-on-3 gameplay between two teams in the NBA. There are no fouls and players work very well in accordance with their attributes. For example, if a player has a high three-point shot rating, then they are good at threes; if they have a high block rating, they are good at blocking shots and so on. There are three modes. In one mode, you create a team and lead it to victory by defeating teams on a challenge ladder. There is another mode where you have to go on a winning streak and achieve a certain number of style points on a court to defeat the court. With each win on the court, the opponent gets harder. If you lose a game during the winning streak, the streak ends and you must start the streak over again. The third mode is a mode where the announcer tries to teach you the basics of the game. These basics include dribbling, passing, shooting, dunking, using gamebreakers, and teaching you how to do certain skill movies. You can create a user ID which tracks all of the user stats and displays medals won when you beat the ladder, and defeat all courts. I like user stat tracking and this game does a good job of it. In one screen from the main menu, you can view leaderboards of stats and see where your user ranks. I really don't have a gripe about the game. The announcer gets annoying so I just turn him off. The create player option is nice. It is easy to create your player and as you progress in this game, you earn new stuff for your player and development points are used to adjust height, weight, and player attributes for your created players. If you are looking for an arcade basketball game, get this one. I liked it and I'm sure you will too.
